Rationale:

Users need to be able to operate the the date picker widget.

Strength of this expectation for different types of assistive technologies:

  • Screen Readers: MUST
  • Voice Control: MUST

Examples:

  • If implemented as a text field, this is not applicable

This expectation covers both the date picker widget and the embedded native controls implemented by some browsers.
